Lexplain is a student-led Australian legal research and information initiative focused on making general legal information easier to find and understand.
Why Lexplain Exists
Legal issues can affect anyone, but laws, cases and legal processes are often communicated using complex and technical language.
For someone without a legal background, even identifying the relevant legal issue can be difficult.
Lexplain was created to help bridge the gap between complex legal materials and the people trying to understand them.

Our mission is to research general legal questions and explain relevant legal principles in clear, accessible language.

About the Founder
Muhammad Waqas
Founder of Lexplain
I am a second-year Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce student at Monash University, majoring in Finance.
Studying law has shown me that even important everyday legal principles can be difficult to find and understand when they are buried in legislation, cases and technical language. I created Lexplain to help bridge that gap by making general Australian legal information clearer and more approachable.
My interests sit at the intersection of legal research, clear communication and access to understandable information. Through Lexplain, I aim to take general questions people genuinely have, examine relevant authoritative sources and present the research in a structured, plain-English format.
Lexplain also reflects my continuing development as a law student. I approach each topic with curiosity, care and transparency while recognising the limits of a student-led initiative. I am not a qualified legal practitioner, and Lexplain does not provide legal advice or assess anyone’s individual circumstances.
Building Lexplain
As Lexplain develops, I hope to collaborate with legal professionals, fellow students, community organisations and educational institutions that share the goal of making reliable legal information easier for the public to understand.

Research should be based on relevant legislation, cases and reliable official materials.
Plain-English Explanations
Legal information should be accurate without being unnecessarily difficult to understand.

Lexplain provides general legal research and information only.
Lexplain does not:

• Guarantee questions will be researched
