If you use the contact form, we collect the name, email address and message you provide. If you suggest a research question, we collect the selected area of law, the question and your acknowledgement that Lexplain provides general information rather than legal advice.

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the information contained in your message. Our website and service providers may also process ordinary technical information such as an IP address, browser type, device information, timestamps and security logs.

How we use information

We use information to receive and manage enquiries, consider general research topics, operate and secure the website, prevent misuse, improve Lexplain and comply with applicable obligations. Suggesting a question does not guarantee that it will be selected, researched or answered individually.

Formspree and other service providers

Our website forms are processed through Formspree, which receives and transmits the information submitted through those forms. The site also loads Tailwind CSS and Google Fonts from third-party services. Those providers may process technical information under their own privacy terms and may store or process information outside Australia.

Disclosure

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information to service providers that help operate the website and communications, where required or authorised by law, or where reasonably necessary to protect people, Lexplain or the security of the service.

Retention and security

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, record-keeping, security and legal obligations. We take reasonable steps to protect information, but no email, form or internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.

This website is intended for a general audience. Please do not submit personal case details, names of other people, health information, identity documents, case numbers or other sensitive or confidential material.
